Me Being Adorable!

So does anyone really think that this winter is finally over?  It really does seem like it will never end.  For real I am so done with it.  Of course it could be that I am a winter virgin.  I guess I should start at the beginning.

My name is Patches. I am 11 years old and I am the cutest, sweetest, most adorable white boxer in the world.  If you don’t believe me just ask my Dad.  He says it all the time.  Well, I think that’s what he is saying as I am deaf and reading lips is a skill I am working on.  I was born able to hear but when I was just a pup as I was eating, ok inhaling, my kibble, I choked and lost my hearing. So yea, speaking of being born that is an important part of my story and reason for my winter frustration.

I was born in San Diego California.  I know jealous right?  I moved to Redondo Beach where I lived with my first Mom. Not such a bad place to live. She was very special as she took me and a couple of my other sisters ( white boxers) to live with her.  Since I was white it was difficult for me to find a home.  We aren’t recognized in the show world.  You see my Mom’s daughter was the one who helped me be born.  She is a vet and a breeder.  Oh man I so digress- must be my ADHD kicking in.

My Mom would get so frustrated with me as a pup because I guess I was really bad.  I chewed through many large hoses, dug up my Mom’s flower pots, and just raced around the house.  I spent many happy years with her.  She got sick and I lost her.  I was so happy that her son, my Dad, said I could come live with him and my second Mom.  He took me to central California and I even lived in Arizona for a bit.  Fast forward a couple more years and Mom and Dad decided living together wasn’t working for them.  Dad ended up moving to Pennsylvania-don’t even ask me how that happened…that could be a Lifetime movie in itself.  I had to stay with Mom in Cali. He wasn’t in a place for me to be able to live with him.  I really missed him.  Mom would send him pictures but it just wasn’t the same.  Once you meet me I am not easily forgotten.

Dad got settled in PA and decided it was time for me to join him.  So, last summer Dad came to get me.  He picked me up at Mom’s and took me to a vet in southern CA where I had to have surgery to take a lump out and remove 10 teeth.  The very next day I got in a car and started my trip across the country.  We took a detour to see the Grand Canyon- a really big hole! Made it to PA in 4 days.  I didn’t doodie or tinkle for the first 24 hours.  It was very stressful, too long a drive.

So of course I get to PA and it is the worst winter in years, decades even.  Now I have my third Mom.  She is pretty special as she took me in and loves me as much as if she raised me from a pup.  I understand she is good at that.  Now, I also have a sister named Gigi and lots of other friendly people.  I will talk about Gigi more another day. Oops, I digressed again. Back to this awful winter!

Dad bought me the coolest dog coat for winter.  Yea, I wasn’t digging it. He and Mom would put it on me and I would just stand there.  Instead, I just learned to doodie and tinkle very quickly.  Some parts of winter weren’t so bad actually.  Gigi and I would have fun chasing each other and frolicking in the fluffy white stuff.  The worst times were that darn ice.  One time on our morning walk Mom clearly had on the wrong shoes and fell!  Was not a pretty sight.  It took a couple of days but she recovered.  I thought winter was all over. Then, BAM! This past weekend we had 3 or 4 inches of slush. Sunday and Monday’s walk was treacherous as the sidewalks were a sheet of ice.  So, as I dodge the rain this week I am thankful it isn’t white.

Looking forward to finding out about a PA spring and hot humid summer…lol j/k.  Can’t wait to share fun stories with you all and tell you more about my family.  Until then keep it real!

Patches
